What is the job of WordPress.org Theme Review team knows Milan Ivanović

Giving back to the community is one of the nicest things anyone could do. Milan Ivanović is a prominent member of European WordPress community, active both on a national level (as Serbian community lead and WordCamp Belgrade lead organizer) and on an international level (as one of the organizers of WordCamp Europe). Milan will talk about his involvement with WordPress.org Theme Review team.

Hey Milan, nice to have you with us. Could you introduce yourself for those who don’t know who you are?

My involvement in WordPress community is spread across multiple teams: Community, Polyglots and the one that I am the proudest of – Theme Review Team. Currently, I am working for Devana Technologies, company behind ManageWP, as a Web developer. I’m the lead organizer of WordCamp Belgrade, organizer of WordPress meetups in Serbia, organizer of WordCamp Europe, Global Translation Editor for the Serbian language on WordPress.org, collector of WordPress T-shirts and fanboy of WordPress in general.

How it all started with you and WordPress?

Been using WordPress for quite some time now, I guess it all started back in 2007 – 2008, I think, when I was looking for some easy-to-use CMS. It happened by accident. I used to be a Web designer, but, first time I wrote a couple of lines of code (let’s say: Not so good code), I never went back.

The Talk

You will talk about WordPress.org Theme Review team and you say it is an important yet neglected team. Why is your talk “Team up for WordPress.org Themes” important for our attendees?

I will try to share my knowledge as the theme reviewer and going to cover the whole thing from both sides: Theme reviewer and Theme submitter. With every theme that people submit, we are making a huge progress in our community and that is why my involvement in a Theme Review team is so close to my heart. By the time WordCamp Split happens, there is going to be some big changes in the Theme Review Team and on the whole process, so I am going to cover those changes, as well.
