Your site is as secure as you make it – learn about website sucurity with Joško Džidić

Most of WordPress users (at least in Croatia) think that you just install WordPress, and that’s it. A lot of our competitors might say that WordPress is not secure enough, but we know better. Joško Džidić is coming from Sucuri – one of the best security companies in the world, and one of the leading companies when it comes to WordPress security. His talk is something that everyone who is concerned about their website security – should listen.

Joško, you’re coming from Sucuri, which is well-known security company. But other than that, we don’t know much about you since this will be your first WordCamp talk. Tell us more about yourself.

My name is Joško Džidić and I work for Sucuri as a sales representative for two and a half years now. My two favorite things besides visiting WordCamps are Tennis and Karaoke. So if anyone is up for a nice WP talk, a tennis match or ready to sing their heart out, I am the person who will join them with a big smile on my face.

How did you started with WordPress, what’s your WordPress connection?

I started learning more about WordPress only a few years ago. I thought that having absolutely no technical background is going to be an obstacle for me, but it turned out to be an amazing challenge. What amazes me about WordPress is that it is so complex but, on the other hand, so user friendly and easy to work with. I started visiting WordCamps as a part of my job and I immediately fell in love with WP Community.

Joško will talk about online security threats and will give us insights of the problems, and solutions.

The Talk

Your talk is called “The frustration with website security“. Should we be worried?

As a sales representative in Sucuri I communicate with website owners on daily basis and it turns out that 90% of them come to us already hacked and consider using a security service only after they have been attacked or hacked. Our goal is to educate people that they should think about prevention immediately. I will be talking about a set of principles you can think about when dealing with WordPress security.
