Emir Kurtović knows how to combine user interaction on articles to show related posts

Artificial intelligence is nowadays basically part of our modern lives. Computers know what we do and are trying to predict what we’ll do next. Is there a way to combine user interactions on articles (social shares and time viewed) to show users better–related posts? Emir Kurtović will tell us more in his development talk titled “Related posts based on user engagement“.

Could you introduce yourself, Emir? How did you start?

I became a developer a long time ago before the term “developer” was used for a programmer. Often, when about to sleep I want to “backup” that day just in case and always wonder why there is no “Save Day” button floating around in midair. Recently, I discovered that there is real world behind the computer screen so I do get out occasionally to see the family (they seem like really nice people) and sunlight, just to confirm i did not become allergic to it. I’m currently working as a developer at Toptal. Spending free time on AI system I will talk you about, I’m also the founder of PHP BH community.

What’s your WordPress connection, or WordPress history, if you like?

After (finally) putting up together my company portfolio, WordPress came as the most used tool on the projects I created – either as a blog, or system itself, and that modifications to the original system become so huge that sometimes it redefines WordPress’ purpose – to be simple. So, I finally understood that I became a WordPress developer.

AI, machine learning are big things nowadays. Back when started, this project was classified SaaS/OLAP but even than I know it was much more. The drill of integrating advanced decision tool into WordPress, not only to suggest but to generate site for the customer is our goal. I will talk you about how it’s done, and some future plans.
